Readme for TOOLS.INF (ver 2.6) (C) Mike Walsh (Helsinki) May 1992.
(for address, bbs, tel and fax details see below)
:p.
This file may be freely distributed "as is" to BBS systems
:p.
:p.
Disclaimer
:p.
:p.
This INF file is distributed via Compuserve and other BBS systems. Permission
has also been granted to IBM to distribute this file in connection with
the launch of OS/2 2.0 in Europe. Responsibility for the contents remains mine.
All possible care has been taken to ensure accuracy of information but no
guarantees are given. All product descriptions unless otherwise stated have
been taken from the companies' own product and marketing material and NONE
have been extracted from magazine articles.
:P.
I have no connection with IBM and work as a consultant for Finland's largest
insurance company Pohjola (which does use IBM mainframes and PS/2s). Most work
on this INF file was done at home using a PS/2 Model 40-045 (AT-bus, 80386sx,
20MHz, 4MB, 80(+120) MB IDE hard disk(s)) and the 6149 and later levels of
OS/2 2.0 beta. I am now running on GA and seem to need more main memory (!).
:p.
I welcome your comments ! Please write even just to say you liked it
(ESPECIALLY to say you liked it (: )
:P.
I also welcome descriptions and other information on your products from
all makers of OS/2 products. I don't expect these to be ready-formatted
IPF statements - but all credit to the Managing Director of Intelligent
Environments who did just that for his Applications Manager product.
:p.
The product works in both 2.0 and 1.3. However it views better in 2.0 -
for instance the list of (all) products shown below the "Description" menu
point is now more easily available through the standard 2.0 "Index" button.
:p.
:p.
How to "read" the enclosed file
:p.
:p.
After unzipping you'll get TOOLS.INF and this file. TOOLS.INF can be "read"
(viewed) with VIEW.EXE.
:p.
If you can't find VIEW.EXE, well it's probably only because when you installed
OS/2 1.3 / 2.0 you didn't request that the reference files be installed. When
this happened to me, I didn't mess about with copying from the installation
disks etc., I just installed the reference files and lo-and-behold VIEW was
suddenly included in my path.
:p.
:p.
Amendments
:p.
:p.
Readers of previous editions will I hope be glad to note that I have
decided to drop this section. The only changes in recent editions
have been in quantity and (I hope) quality. So I have decided to
put history to rest.
:p.
:p.
General Information
:p.
:p.
As usual any more info you can add to the address/price/ref info supplied
will be appreciated.
:p.
Thanks go to Dan Kyburz of Palm Harbor, FL whose pd vendor phone list has
filled in a few blanks in the addresses section.
:p.
Comments, additions and corrections please to CIS: 72557,3170 BIX: mwalsh2.
You can also contact me via the ILINK Scandinavia and OS/2 conferences
(MIKE WALSH). I am now also able to read the comp.os.os2.xxxx newsgroups
so you could also post corrections there (in comp.os.os2.apps if poss.).
